The Archery Program at Grand Canyon School is on! Students in grades 4-12 are invited to participate. Practices will take place in the multi-purpose room until further notice. Students must check in AND out with the program coordinators. Anyone who leaves the supervised area without permission will be permanently removed from the program. The Archery Program is in need of adult volunteers! No experience is necessary. If you are interested in helping, please contact Kevin Hartigan at email@example.com. Thanks!
Bike Vault Program
Help deter bicycle theft with Bike Vault, a free service from Grand Canyon National Park, South Rim Patrol. Stolen bicycles registered with Bike Vault are reported to the National Crime Information Center so that every police officer in the USA knows whom the bike was stolen from. Statistics suggest that 48% of all stolen bicycles are recovered by the police every year, but only 5% are returned to the rightful owner because they don’t know whom to return the bike to. Thieves think twice about riding a bike when every police officer knows it’s stolen! Protect your property and deter criminals in your community with Bike Vault. Click HERE for more information.
Mrs. Frischmann has published another book! You can find it HERE on Amazon. Congratulations, and we look forward to seeing the next three that are scheduled for release this year!
Computer Lab (Room 410)
Ms. Frischmann (High School English) is available in the computer lab 410 each Monday from 4-6 p.m., and other times by appointment. Ms. Newton (High School Science) is available every Wednesday at the same time in 410. Mrs. McBroom (K-12 Art) is available on Tuesday mornings from 7:30-8:00 am in 410. Students are always welcome to come for help at those times (even if you’re not using the computers), or other times by appointment.
The school's administrators will be available for a question and answer session to address any district-related issues on Tuesday, November 18 at 5:30 in the band room.
Daily Math Skills
Students in grades K-8 are now receiving the critically acclaimed Daily Math Skills curriculum available through Beyond Textbooks. Teachers implement daily 20 minute math fact lessons to improve math fluency (speed + accuracy) so that students are able to perform computational tasks as well as higher level skills while not getting bogged down on the "ABC's of math." Implementing Daily Math Skills in other school districts has historically demonstrated immediate gains on math AIMS scores, specifically the number of students who exceed the standard.
