2015-2016 High School Registration
Students in grades 8-11, you may preview the 2015-2016 high school course offerings HERE. Counseling will meet with students the week of March 30 to complete course request forms, as well as discuss graduation requirements, four-year plans, and university admission requirements.
The week of May 11-14, students in grades 7-10 will have the opportunity to obtain sex education lessons offered at Grand Canyon School by the Public Health Services District of Coconino County. More information about this optional program will be provided to your students in the upcoming weeks, though parents/guardians may attend forums to share questions and/or concerns on March 26 at 6:00 p.m. and March 27 at 10:00 a.m. in the school's Band Room. PowerPoint presentations outlining the County's lessons can be found HERE for grades 7-8 and HERE for grades 9-10.
On 20 February 2015, Senate Bill 1191 was signed into law, immediately ending the AIMS high school graduation requirement. This action means that any students scheduled to take one or more sections of the AIMS test next week will no longer be required to do so. Until today, students had to pass the reading, writing and mathematics portions of the AIMS test in order to receive a high school diploma. The requirement was previously set to expire December 31, 2016. Testing will still be available next week for those students wishing to take AIMS for scholarship eligibility or other personal reasons. Parents or families with questions about testing availability in these situations should contact their student's school. Future planned administrations of the test will be canceled.
The location for high school graduation and 8th grade promotion ceremonies has been changed to McKee Amphitheater. Please click HERE for more information.
In November 2014, the Arizona State Board of Education adopted a new statewide achievement test, AzMERIT, for Arizona students.
